Next home fixture is to be confirmed
Sunday 8th July 2018, 23:11 UK
As the Boiler Technical Services Diamonds struggled to contain the Workington Comets on Sunday night, there were other items concerning the Newcastle Speedway management with the fixture list..
The main issue had been the planned next home meeting with Scunthorpe scheduled for next Sunday night, but with the very real chance of an England team in the World Cup final at 4pm on that Sunday, in fact even if the "Three Lions" side didn't make the final, the fact it was a World Cup Final in its own right could cause problems.

The match starts at 4pm, and should it go to extra time, then penalties, the event would finish after the scheduled start time at Brough Park, and could easily decimate the crowd to a desperately low financial level, so much so that the speedway meeting had to me moved - or as it turned out - postponed to another day.

It won't be the following Sunday - July 22nd - as that traditionally is the day after the Cardiff British Grand Prix - including former Diamond Robert Lambert - when Newcastle don't run in case fans are travelling back to the North East on that day.

It is hoped a fixture may be placed on Sunday July 29th, although that has to be confirmed first, with the next definite home match listed is against Glasgow in the league on Sunday August 5th.

This website, the Journal and Chronicle, and all other Newcastle Speedway outlets - like Facebook and Twitter, will keep fans right up to date with and additions to the fixture list.
