Diamonds bright start soon faded against Glasgow.

It was always going to be tough, especially without Steve Worrall, and sadly the huge strength of the Glasgow Tigers soon overpowered the Sapphire Engineering Diamonds
Sitting in a decent lead, 21-15 after Heat Six, the Diamonds looked in control, but the next six heats, taken separately saw the Tigers win that batch 11-25 indicating a dramatic turn-around, and despite a superbly fought 5-1 for Newcastle in the final heat, the damage has well and truely been done.

High points were few, but young Robert Lambert provided a season's high with his immaculate and hard won 18-point six ride maximum, including some breath-taking fence scraping racing and passing including defeating Richie Worrall in Heat 10 when he blasted from third to first in a tight-as-a-drum second bend which brought the house down.

Lewis Rose took one paid win, in Heat 15, but his 9+2 were hard fought too again punctuated with some good chasing and overtaking to be proud of while Ludvig Lindgren seemed to be suffering more mechanical issues, having to swap to his second bike at one stage in his seven point total.

Dan Greenwood was one of only three Diamonds to take a race win, his coming in Heat Two, leading from the start over Tom Perry who himself went on to take seven points, indicating once he settled Greenwood has the capability to win at Brough Park.

Otherwise it was a soon-to-admit Glasgow success, and well deserved -but they have to come back again before the end of the season when revenge will be on the Diamonds' minds.
